Effective date: 17 October 2026.
Who is responsible
FoodEdge is a publication of OMNINEVIA SPÓŁKA Z OGRANICZONĄ ODPOWIEDZIALNOŚCIĄ, ul. Augustyna Szamarzewskiego 21/2, 60-514 Poznań, Poland, KRS 0001269964, NIP 7812118646. OmniNevia is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us at hello@omninevia.eu for privacy requests or start@foodedge.eu for publication and membership support.
This notice covers foodedge.eu, FoodEdge reader accounts, newsletter subscriptions, member discussions and correspondence with the publication. If you follow a link to a separate service, including the OmniNevia project-enquiry form, read the notice displayed there before submitting information.
Reading and using the site
You can read public articles and use our decision worksheets without an account. Our hosting infrastructure processes technical request information, which can include an IP address, browser information, requested address and time, to deliver and protect the service and investigate faults. Our legal basis for necessary operation and security is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable publication and preventing misuse.
Some site components are delivered by service providers such as the jsDelivr content-delivery network. Your browser sends the technical information needed to request those components to the relevant provider. Links, embedded content and externally hosted images can also involve requests to their provider; visiting an external site is subject to its own notice.
Reader accounts and newsletters
When you create an account, we process your email address, the profile information you choose to provide, account status, subscription preferences and the records needed to operate the account. We send confirmation and sign-in messages. The legal basis for providing the account you request is performance of the membership service, with legitimate interests for security and abuse prevention. An email address is necessary for an account; optional profile details are not necessary to read public articles.
If you choose FoodEdge Weekly, we use your address to send that newsletter on the basis of your consent. It contains editorial reading recommendations and may include clearly identified information about FoodEdge products, events and workshops. You can unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter or your account preferences. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Unsubscribing from a newsletter does not delete your reader account. Necessary account messages, such as a sign-in link you request, can still be sent. To request account deletion, contact start@foodedge.eu.
We process delivery, failure, complaint and unsubscribe information so that mail can reach the right address and unwanted or undeliverable mail can be stopped. We do not use email-open pixels or individual link-click tracking in the launch configuration. Delivery and suppression records are distinct from reading analytics.
Comments, corrections and enquiries
Comments and the public profile information displayed with them are visible to other readers. Do not include sensitive health information, private contact details or confidential project material in a public comment. We process comments to provide the discussion service and to moderate misuse. Publication of a comment is separate from subscribing to the newsletter.
When you contact us, we use the information you send to answer the request, investigate a correction or discuss the proposed work. Depending on the request, the basis is steps you request before a contract or our legitimate interest in handling business and editorial correspondence. An enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. Workshop booking, invoicing and contractual records are handled separately when an order is agreed; this website does not take workshop card payments.
Our reporting may also include relevant professional information obtained from public sources or supplied by a contributor. Sources and editorial attribution are described in the article where appropriate. Contact us if information about you requires correction or you wish to raise a privacy concern.
Storage on your device and the free tools
Account sessions use browser storage needed for sign-in and account functions. The reading list stores saved article references in your browser on this device. Clear the list or your browser's site data to remove them. Reading prompts may use session storage that lasts for the browser session.
Answers entered in the Evidence Check and Decision Map stay in the current page. These tools do not send the answers to FoodEdge, create a subscriber record or produce a verified readiness score. Save or print your work before leaving if you want to retain it. Clearing site data or ending the session can also remove local preferences or sign you out.
Our first-party placement counters record aggregate counts by date, campaign, placement and event type. The counter records do not contain an email address, member ID, browser ID, IP address or individual browsing history. These aggregate counters are retained for 365 days. This statement concerns the counter database, not all infrastructure security logs.
Our first-party article counter keeps daily totals by article path. A page load can contribute one view after ten seconds with the article in the foreground. Repeat visits can count again. These are page-view totals, not unique readers or completed reads.
The article counter uses no cookies or browser storage and sends no account identifiers. Its database stores only the UTC date, canonical article path, separate live or test totals and the aggregate count. It does not store IP addresses, browser identifiers or individual events. It respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Daily totals are kept for 90 UTC dates, including today. The public Most viewed ranking covers the latest 30 UTC dates. This description concerns the article counter, not all hosting and security logs.
Providers and international processing
The service uses self-hosted Ghost on Hostinger infrastructure. Mailgun, part of Sinch, delivers account messages and newsletters using our configured EU domain and API endpoint. Our receiving business mailbox uses Zoho. Authorised staff and service providers can process data as needed for their role, subject to the relevant access and contractual arrangements.
An EU sending endpoint does not mean that every provider operation, support access or subprocessor is confined to the EU. International access or transfers must use an applicable legal mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards where required. Contact hello@omninevia.eu for information about the safeguards applicable to your data or a copy where available. Provider locations and contracts must be checked before a new processing route is introduced.
The external project-enquiry form is provided by Formly. Its published information identifies Formly Ltd in the United Kingdom and AWS hosting in London. The form and the OmniNevia notice linked beside it explain that separate enquiry route. Do not submit health records or confidential research in that form.
How long information is kept
We keep account information while the account is active and needed to provide the service. When an account is closed, we remove or anonymise information that is no longer needed, subject to legitimate security needs, applicable legal obligations and the handling of claims. Public comments may need separate review when an account is removed.
Newsletter delivery uses the current subscription preference. A limited record of withdrawal or suppression can be retained to respect that preference and prevent further unwanted mail. We retain only what is needed for that purpose and review whether it is still necessary. Unsubscribing is not a request to delete a suppression record and accidentally restart delivery.
Enquiry records are kept while the request is being handled and for a proportionate period needed for follow-up, agreed work, legal obligations or claims. Technical logs are kept for operational troubleshooting and security, with longer preservation only where an incident or legal need justifies it. Backups and provider logs have separate retention cycles; removal from the active system does not mean instantaneous removal from every backup. Contact us for the retention information relevant to your request.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances and the legal basis, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you can withdraw newsletter consent at any time. We may need enough information to verify that a request concerns your data, but will not ask for unnecessary identity information.
Write to hello@omninevia.eu. You also have the right to complain to the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Poland, UODO, or the competent supervisory authority where you live or work. We do not use the website's evidence tools to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
We update this notice when the service or its processing changes. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate. The published version will show its effective date.
